Robert Rauschenberg - this artist was very interesting and also inspired my work greatly as it showed me different ways of layering and using different relating images to form one piece even if they are of different styles or materials. I also enjoyed the aesthetics of when he used original drawn images instead of using secondary images like other artists such as hannah hoch.

Sophie Calle - this artists uses text allot within her work in a number of different styles and ways, including projections. This has influenced my work as it has pushed me to use different ways of applying text such as hand writing, letteroset and stitch. This allowed me to explore a range of ways to combine different styles of drawings and photographs along with text coherently to create different types of atmosphere and feeling within the image.

Agnes Martin - the way she used subtle colours to create a different form of emotion is something i would like to look into, using colour specifically, to suit the subject matter as i feel this is important to my work as it is a sensitive issue, this will improve the through provoking aspect of my work.

Louise Bourgeois - she uses a variety of methods which i would also like to use within my work, such as mono-printing and other printmaking techniques to create a more messy or less structural lines. I believe this approach would suit my work as i would in a free flowing style and like making collages, something which is easily done through this technique.

Yves Klein - i like the way this artists does free and expressive work as it portrays a strong sense of emotions and movement as a result of the way that he creates his work. This makes it clear that often within fine art the method of creation is imperative when trying to create feeling. Another aspect of this artist's work which i would like to look into is the way he also translates his work onto clothing such as dresses, i like this way of presenting work as it makes the work feel more personal and intense, at the same time as creating a new dimension to the work.

Ben Nicholson - by using layering and a range of materials this artist creates a very dynamic effect. This is something i would like to also do as it allows the artists to make the viewer focus of certain parts of the image whilst being able to use a number of other materials, It also creates more shape and dynamic to the images. Another aspect of this work that i like is the simple colour schemes he often uses as it is used in an effective and subtle way whilst being bold and striking as a result of the large block color and the large white borders.

Mira Schendel - text is a very prominent factor within this artist's work. Although it is through letters not quotes it is still relevant to my work as there is the aspect of layering and composition which is imperative when using text effectively as it makes the image feel together or disorderly. It also is an insight to a range of things that must be considered such as the how to apply the text, for example paint or stencil and the use of tone within each image to show more prominent words or letters have more importance.

David Shrigley- although this artts doesn't have a similar approach to art to me as it is more of a illustration approach as opposed to fine art, there are still aspects that i would like the apply to my work. For example the use of line to create simple yet effective drawings is something that i definitely like and enjoy doing, therefore i will use this within my work as a style of drawing, i can also adapt this to fit my subject matter. Furthermore the use of only black and white is very effective as there is no distraction, as well as the use of text to approach a subject matter.

William Kentridge - the atmosphere that this artist can create through the use of tone is very much something that i wish to achieve, along with this his use of text and similar materials to me shows me for i may be able to refine my original ideas to create an improved and progressed piece.
