I feel i used my independent study time this week very effectively as i gained a substantial amount of successful content for my project. This week my studies have been in a more ‘double diamond’ process style which has meant that i have more work leading to a final resolved pieve instead of multiple small pieces of refined work. I have found that this is a more practical and effective way of working for me as it has allowed me to experiment more freely and analyse the successes and failures of my work all the way through the week. Therefore i feel i have utilised my time in a more effective and motivating way than last week and intend to use this approach the the creative process more throughout this course and further studies.

I feel as though annotation throughout my project is a skill i must improve upon in order to gain a higher level and is probably my main weakness, this is often because i get engrossed in the work i am dong and put annotation to one side, however i must remember to make it a priority of mine if future projects as it is an imperative part of the course and will allow me to thrive. Despite this downfall i do believe that i have studied many appropriate artists throughout this project and explored the key aspects of their work effectively.

Throughout this project i have experienced many different interpretations of fine art and have been pleased as this was no expected. Before this project i expected the fine art pathway to take a more traditional approach to art and limit students possibilities, however now i am very interested in exploiting the different opportunities within fine art, including a contemporary approach to thinking.

I am aware that a lot of my work created throughout this project can definitely be improved upon, suc as my experimentation with a variety of concepts, materials and drawing quality in actions such as panning and refinement, on reflection i believe i could have used drawing to make my project stronger and more clear as it is an imperative material that i did not explore. I also believe that i can improve on my printmaking skills which is something i will definitely do in the future as it is a medium that i enjoy using and creates an outcome that i find aesthetically pleasing. Finally throughout my evaluation i am aware that i must concentrate on analysing artists as although i often think about for they influence my work and look into their background throughout my project, i rarely write about their effect at the time, therefore explaining their influence after it has occurred makes it of a weaker quality.

Despite these drawbacks, there are some highlights to my project. I feel that throughout my work, composition was a strong point of mine and believe that this improved the quality of much of my work, making it more aesthetically pleasing. I also feel that although my monoprints and ink drawings were not realistic, the style suited the subject topic given and fitted the word ‘line’ hat i got by chance’ making them unique and intriguing. This, along with the colour pallet i used meant the atmosphere and feeling of my work became more emotional and effective as it was fitting to the topic of a cancer patient. A final strength in my project, i believe is the contextual research i did which influenced the pathway of my work, such as the cancer patient interview and the story of ricky manic, making my work deeper than it would be otherwise as it was influenced by a strong sense of emotion and current problems, giving it a deeper more contemporary feeling and pushing me to look into the topic more.
